Venezuela
Care for the elderly
About 150 years ago, a group of Germans in Venezuela founded the German-Venezuelan aid organization AVAS, which is particularly active in caring for the elderly. 20 volunteers work for AVAS in Caracas and several inland cities, mostly looking after elderly people who live alone. Even after a century and a half, the organization's goals remain relevant — which is why Bayer supports this non-governmental organization with monetary and material donations.
Many elderly people in Venezuela live in financial need that AVAS is able to alleviate. The organization's activities also include caregiving services such as accompanying patients during doctor's visits. In addition to giving financial support to the organization, Bayer has also assisted AVAS by donating computers.
