Vocational training and research
China has become a focus of investment for Bayer in recent years — a commitment that has also carried over to the social sphere, with the company concentrating particularly on vocational training and research. For example, Bayer has signed a multi-year cooperation agreement with the Chinese Academy of Sciences. At the University of Beijing, 20 chemical engineering students are receiving scholarships under a program launched in 1996. This year Bayer began cooperating with the Shanghai Petrochemical Academy in a program to train young people as chemical production technicians.
