Donation for cardiac hospitals
Bayer's Canadian subsidiary, headquartered in Toronto, is supporting five cardiac hospitals with donations of CAD 10,000 each. Benefiting from the money are hospitals in the cities of Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax.
Bayer declared February 2002 to be "Heart Month". A portion of the company's sales of Aspirin between February 1 and 14 (Valentine's Day) was set aside for the donation. In this way, Bayer hopes to contribute to the recovery of patients with heart problems. Current statistics show that about 75,000 Canadians suffer a heart attack each year.
