Health and Social Needs
Why donations are so important
Donations are the oldest manifestation of a company’s social commitment, and still are very effective when it comes to providing rapid, targeted relief in emergency or disaster situations.
Bayer provides swift emergency assistance in many instances around the world – in the form of money, medical supplies, or goods or materials to help restore the infrastructure. Even small donations can help enhance the capabilities of social or educational institutions. Many donations are also based on a commitment by individual employees or groups of employees. Such donations are generally augmented by long-term aid projects based on the self-help principle.

The company provided both money and donations in kind with a total value of EUR 13 million for victims of the tsunami disaster in south and southeast Asia. Long-term projects being supported by Bayer include the establishment of several medical centers in India, where Bayer is also paying the salaries of the medical staff for several years. The company is also helping to build nursery schools in India and supporting a number of reconstruction projects in Indonesia.
The following are just some of the donations made recently in Germany and throughout the world.
