Creating enthusiasm for science
Practical learning — often an unrealizable dream for students of science in India's schools. Yet it doesn't have to be that way. In Thane, where Bayer India operates a production facility, 1,800 children and young people from seven public schools were able to enjoy a special project to promote science, with Bayer making a big contribution.

The "Science Awareness Project" initiated by the Marathi Vidyan Parishad educational institute was aimed at creating enthusiasm for science among the children. This was achieved in a number of ways:
- A science club was founded in every school;
- Experimental workshops were organized in which the children learned, for example, how to use simple objects to make toys that illustrate the principles of physics;
- Bayer donated time and money to set up a well-equipped laboratory in which students are able to conduct experiments.
"The entire project helped the students to gain experience using various laboratory apparatus and convinced them of the fascinating nuances of experimental science," reported one of the organizers.
