Disaster aid and prophylactic health care
To help ease the consequences of the earthquake that devastated El Salvador in 2001, Bayer donated medicines and other materials with a total value of several million euros. The company provided aid organizations not only with anti-infective drugs, but also with systems for the purification of drinking water — an important measure to reduce the risk of epidemics in the Central American country. Bayer also joined the fight against dengue fever, a dangerous disease common in El Salvador.
