Winners of the 17th International Children’s Painting Competition 2008

The 17th International Children’s Painting Competition on the Environment was organized jointly by Bayer and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). More than 15,400 children from almost 100 countries took part in the 17th International Children’s Painting Competition – a new record. The paintings all share one clear message that the children are keen to pass on to adults: Take care of our planet – it's the only one we have!

During a special ceremony, representatives of Bayer, UNEP and the New Zealand government honored the global winners and the six regional winners from North America, Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, Europe, West Asia and Asia-Pacific. More than 190,000 children have taken part in this environmental painting competition since 1990. Since 2004, it has been part of the youth environment program that is run by Bayer and UNEP and implemented in numerous different ways around the globe. The theme for 2008 was: “Climate change: Actions we can take to reduce our negative impact”.
