Career guidance for prospective managers

When final exams are looming, many last-year students ask the question: "What to do next?" Bayer Australia is helping students find the answer with a unique, hands-on youth training scheme that provides a practical bridge between school and full employment.

Established in 1993, the Bayer Youth Traineeship Scheme was devised in response to Australia's chronic youth unemployment problem. Since then, 40 young school graduates have gone through the program and progressed to full-time employment or study. The traineeship offers practical work assignments in all parts of the company over a period of 18 months. Trainees also study at a college of training and further education (TAFE) to enhance their business skills. This builds the trainees' self-confidence and gives them a general understanding of the world of work.
