Rufus visits Norway

Rufus is a bear with diabetes. He is traveling around the world visiting families with children who suffer from type 1 diabetes and are participating in an Internet course offered by the United States-based Children with Diabetes (CWD) community. The Internet portal provides families with a wealth of diabetes-related care and program options. Rufus was brought to life in order to spur the children's interest in this subject and encourage them to observe the unavoidable precautions and therapies associated with the disease. The idea of sending a traveling diabetic bear around the world came from an eight-year-old American girl and her parents who participate in the CWD courses in the United States. Bayer in the USA is supporting Rufus on his world tour. Over the course of a year, the teddy bear plans to visit more than one hundred families affected by diabetes on four continents. Last year he traveled to Norway at the initiative of Bayer in that Scandinavian country.

Rufus the Bear is keeping a diary about all of his adventures. You can read his diary at the CWD homepage: http://www.childrenwithdiabetes.com/
