Protecting people and nature
Bayer's Corporate Social Responsibility projects in the Philippines are aimed at protecting people and nature. The company places special emphasis on education and on active participation in environmental projects. Bayer promotes an understanding by young people of ecological relationships through the training of young environmental envoys. The company also sponsors national campaigns to teach the responsible handling of hazardous materials, thus increasing safety in the production, transportation and use of chemicals.
Two ambitious projects also supported by Bayer are dedicated to the protection of rain forests and drinking water. An initiative in Silang is developing a forest park in which 10,000 trees have been planted. The second project benefits the San Cristobal river, which feeds one of the Philippines' most important drinking water reservoirs.
