Vocational training in China
Cooperation in Shanghai
The Shanghai Petrochemical Academy (SPA) is one of five major vocational training centers for the chemical industry in China. Thanks to intensive cooperation with Bayer, the academy can now further improve its position.
Bayer's cooperation with the SPA, which began in the summer of 2002, will allow 36 young people from the "Bayer SPA Class" to participate in a chemical process engineering training course, work in a Bayer "training plant" and — at the end of the program — complete a 12-week internship at Bayer's production facilities in Shanghai.
The trainees thus gain insight into the merits of the dual vocational training system that has proven effective in Germany. For Bayer, collaboration with the Shanghai Petrochemical Academy also represents an opportunity to train people who may then join the company's workforce in the increasingly important Chinese market. This is a project with something to offer for everyone involved.
