Inspiring science - promoting diversity
Bayer's renowned projects in the United States include a prizewinning program to promote science: "Making Science Make Sense" awakens schoolchildren's interest in practical science. The Bayer-supported National Science Foundation award encourages budding young American researchers.
In addition, Bayer Corporation maintains a number of programs to promote ethnic and cultural diversity both in its own workforce and among suppliers.
Following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, Bayer and its employees around the world showed their solidarity with the victims of the terrorist attacks. The company donated US$ 1 million to the families of those who died and also provided assistance through material donations. Bayer made available four million Ciprobay tablets free of charge to protect against anthrax attacks.
