The foundation’s philosophy is to give more than just monetary donations. Through a personal commitment, current and former Bayer employees and volunteers from the community demonstrate in the neighborhoods surrounding Bayer’s sites how much humaneness and small gestures can do to make the lives of many needy people just a little bit better. To support this voluntary commitment, various volunteering programs offer financial assistance to those who become active in their communities. The Bayer Cares Foundation plans to support this voluntary commitment with funding of approximately EUR 90,000 per year.

In the context of Bayer’s foundation activities, the company is maintaining its tradition of providing disaster aid in emergency situations as well as assuming social responsibility worldwide with social projects.

In addition to the Bayer Cares Foundation, the Herbert Grünewald Foundation for the Promotion of Sports for the Disabled is also engaged in social activities: for the past 26 years, it has helped to give the disabled the same sporting opportunities as healthy persons.
