Bayer scholarships for schoolchildren

With the Bayer scholarships for school students, the foundation supports students who show special commitment.
The scholarships enable the students to participate in selected summer camps and programs for school students in the natural sciences.

To achieve this, the foundation works closely with accredited educational establishments in Europe, the Asia/Pacific region and America.

Bayer Sustainability Camp 2008

In 2008, as part of the Bayer Climate Program, the Bayer Science & Education Foundation awarded scholarships to school students in particular fields. In July, with the aid of a Bayer scholarship for school students, five committed young people traveled to the United States to take part in a two-week science camp on the topic of "Climate Change & Sustainability". All 2008 regional winners of Jugend forscht were invited to apply, as were children of Bayer employees who can demonstrate commitment to protecting our climate and environment.

For two weeks, the Bayer Climate Fellows, together with five young Americans, engaged with the topics of climate change, climate protection and sustainability.

“Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time. We want to raise young people's awareness of climate change and climate protection measures now, because they will be the decision makers of tomorrow”, declares Dr. Wolfgang Plischke, the member of the Management Board with responsibility for technology, innovation and the environment.

The international science camp will be organized by the non-profit organization RiverQuest based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. RiverQuest has already received multiple awards for its education programs and has been collaborating with the Bayer USA Foundation Bayer USA Foundation for a number of years.
