Environmental training for schools

Project Eco-Class

Bayer in Poland launched a new project in the fall of 2001 to coincide with the new school year. The company worked together with education experts to develop a new high school learning program entitled "Eco-Class" that is designed to teach students about environmental protection in a vivid and practical manner. The project focuses on the environmental protection recommendations and standards of the European Union, as Poland is a candidate for E.U. membership and must honor E.U. standards in the field of environmental protection as well. In 2001 and 2002, four schools are participating in projects dealing with recycling and environmentally friendly transportation and energy.

With this initiative, Bayer is supporting the "Green Certificate" program of the Polish Environment and Education Ministry. Every two years, this "Seal of Quality" is presented to educational institutions that have distinguished themselves with creative and innovative ideas, concepts and solutions in keeping with the principles of "Sustainable Development". Bayer in Poland will present awards to the best projects at the end of 2002 as part of its environmental contest. The company is confident that all schools in Poland will eventually participate in this program.
