Bayer in Russia

A production plant of the company was first opened in Russia at the end of the 19th century. The first factory for the production of alizarin and aniline dyes was established not far from Moscow. The Bayer factory supplied about 75% of the demand for artificial dyestuffs, being the largest producer in the country at the time. The product range was gradually extended to pharmaceuticals, including aspirin. In 1912 the factory was converted into the joint-stock company "Chemical Factory Bayer & Co".

In 1915 the company was closed down. But in 1978 a representative office of Bayer AG was opened again. In 1994 ZAO "Bayer" was formed. Today the main company office in Russia is in Moscow, but the company is widely represented throughout the whole of Russia also thanks to more than 25 regional offices.
