Honorary awards for groundbreaking research achievements

Advances in fundamental and industrial research are the assets of the future for Germany as a base for industry. For this reason, the Bayer Science & Education Foundation rewards every two years outstanding research achievements with three scientific awards, each of them comes with a prize of EUR 50,000.
The Otto Bayer Award honors researchers who have made pioneering contributions in innovative areas in chemistry and biochemistry, while the Hansen Family Award is given for outstanding achievements in the fields of medical science.Both are among the most prestigious science awards within the German-speaking world.

The Bayer Climate Award was established in 2008. It is a pioneering international and interdisciplinary climate-focused scientific award presented for outstanding work in relevant disciplines of climate research. The award expresses the foundation’s commitment to the global challenge of climate change.

One purpose of the three research awards is to foster wider acceptance of pioneering key technologies in the future.
