It’s back! Your chance to win a Monarch Butterfly Kit!

Maui AgFest 2024

Bayer Hawaii, in partnership with Sharing the Butterfly Experience, will be giving away 30 Monarch Butterfly Kits at the 17th Annual Maui AgFest & 4-H Livestock Fair on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the War Memorial Special Events Field.

The annual giveaway is part of an ongoing educational effort to highlight the important role pollinators play in sustaining ecosystems and supporting a stable food supply.

AgFest attendees can visit Bayer’s booth to enter for a chance to win a Monarch Butterfly Kit between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Key rules:

  • Thirty winners will be randomly selected.

  • Winners must be present at the time of the drawing to claim their kit.

  • No purchase is necessary to participate.

Each kit includes a protective habitat, two live caterpillars, and caterpillar food. Carefully prepared by Sharing the Butterfly Experience, the kits provide a hands-on opportunity for families to observe the transformation of monarch butterflies—from caterpillar to chrysalis to adult—over a 20-day period.

This marks the eighth consecutive year that Bayer Hawaii has partnered with Sharing the Butterfly Experience to highlight the importance of monarch butterflies in agriculture and the environment.

“This initiative goes beyond butterflies, it’s about inspiring curiosity, environmental responsibility, and a deeper appreciation for our island’s ecosystems,” said Darlene Loo-McDowell from Sharing the Butterfly Experience. “We’re proud to continue our collaboration with Bayer Hawaii and to be part of this year’s Maui AgFest.”

Since 2018, Bayer Hawaii has proudly partnered with Sharing the Butterfly Experience to distribute hundreds of free monarch butterfly kits throughout the state. This initiative not only provides valuable educational opportunities but also highlights the critical role pollinators play in our ecosystem.

Sharing the Butterfly Experience, the only Hawaii member of the International Butterfly Breeders Association and the Association for Butterflies, has assembled these butterfly kits.
