Bayer partners with EAC AI Alliance to advance responsible AI innovation across East Africa

Bayer has joined the EAC AI Alliance as a strategic knowledge partner to support the responsible, ethical and inclusive adoption of artificial intelligence across the East African region. Working alongside the East African Community (EAC) Secretariat and implemented by the Inter University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) and the East African Science and Technology Commission (EASTECO), with support from GIZ EAC, the Alliance advances AI through higher-education collaboration, applied research and coordinated policy development.

Bayer will contribute technical expertise and capacity-building support to help develop ethical, practical AI applications, initially focused on agriculture and health, to drive productivity, strengthen health systems and promote sustainable regional growth. Early activities include participation in the AI4EAC Hackathon, part of the broader AI4EAC Innovation Challenge, which convenes young innovators to co-create solutions for the region’s evolving needs.
