Our Impact

How we help people thrive

At Bayer, our mission Health for all, Hunger for none underpins our efforts to enable people to live the best and most productive versions of their lives. Through our work in agriculture and healthcare, and through philanthropic and sustainability initiatives, we have an impact on people’s lives in ways that extend beyond providing products and solutions.

CROP SCIENCE

Smallholder farmer focus

Smallholder farmers are the backbone of Pakistan’s agriculture industry. Through our on-ground farmer engagement initiatives, such as Bayer Learning Centers for DeKalb maize seed, we work directly with smallholder farmers to share updated agronomic best practices that help them maximize their yields for greater economic benefit. The knowledge and education provided by our teams helps farmers produce more while also restoring nature and managing natural resources responsibly.

We reach approximately 1 million smallholder farmers on an annual basis with our products and services, and through our various capacity-building engagement activities.

Financial Support to Farmers Post-Floods

Agriculture in Pakistan is increasingly subject to changing weather patterns and the impacts of climate change. In recent years, floods have wreaked havoc on agricultural land, with crop and infrastructure losses affecting farmers’ livelihoods significantly.

To support smallholder farmers in the wake of the unprecedented 2022 monsoon floods, Bayer Pakistan partnered with a well-reputed NGO to provide interest-free microloans for famers that suffered significant losses due to the floods. These microloans enabled farmers to rebuild their livelihoods and regain financial independence after the devastation caused by the floods.

650 farmers were provided microloans as a part of this initiative.

Abdul Ghafoor is a smallholder farmer from Punjab who lost his crops during the devastating 2022 monsoon floods. With a little help from Bayer Pakistan, in partnership with Akhuwat and with remarkable resilience and hard work, he overcame this loss to recover his livelihood.

PHARMACEUTICALS

Women’s health focus

Over the course of their lives, women have very different needs relating to their health, ranging from their menstrual cycle, birth control, pregnancy, and menopause, to conditions such as heavy menstruation, endometriosis or other reproductive health issues.

As the global leader in women’s healthcare, Bayer is proudly committed to driving innovation to meet women's health needs throughout the various stages of their reproductive life, from menarche to menopause.

Support to Mezrab for women-focused primary health clinics

We aim to support women’s health even beyond the reach of our core business. The global Bayer Foundation provided a grant to NGO Mezrab enabling the launch of three primary health clinics in the underserved urban neighborhoods of Karachi to provide sustainable primary healthcare with a focus on women’s reproductive health. The clinics were inaugurated in 2025. As of early 2026, over 5,500 women have been treated at these clinics, and over 2,100 have attended health camps conducted by Mezrab, learning more about basic health concerns affecting them and their families.

Consumer Health

Helping consumers manage their everyday health

Our core focus in Consumer Health is reaching consumers across Pakistan with the solutions they need to manage and improve their everyday health and wellbeing.

This includes helping people build their immunity, enhance their nutritional intake, and manage common digestive complaints, skin conditions , hair fall and intimate health issues in a way that helps them feel their best and live life to the fullest. Approximately 5 million consumers are reached by our products annually.

The Consumer Health division launched a program called EmpowHer, in collaboration with family planning and health provider Greenstar (GSM), to improve access to intimate healthcare solutions for women in low-income communities across Pakistan. Leveraging GSM’s existing network of healthcare providers, including Lady Health Visitors who make home visits in low-income communities, Bayer facilitated training enabling healthcare providers to recognize and treat common intimate health conditions such as Vaginal Yeast Infections (VYI) in a discreet and dignified manner. This way, they were able to provide relief for this common condition which is easily treated but often undiagnosed due to social stigma and barriers to healthcare access. In the first year of the EmpowHer program, half a million women were reached with treatment.
