Bayer Foundations for the promotion of science, education and social activities
Bayer Science & Education Foundation and
Bayer Cares Foundation
Established in 2007, the Bayer Science and Education Foundation pursues the primary goals of honoring outstanding research achievements, assisting talented young scientists and supporting important scholastic projects. The support projects focus on science and medicine. The also newly established Bayer Cares Foundation promotes social self-initiative and projects of particular social relevance.
These two foundations represent the continuation of a long tradition of foundation activities maintained by the Bayer Group. In 1923, General Director Carl Duisberg established a foundation aimed at promoting foreign studies by medical students. With the Bayer Science and Education Foundation, Bayer is combining and strengthening its foundation activities in the areas of science and education. The sponsorship activities of both foundations are oriented around the company’s Mission Statement “Bayer: Science For A Better Life”. They underscore Bayer’s image of itself as a socially responsible corporate citizen.

In addition to the foundations’ social activities, Bayer maintains numerous local projects and programs around the world. Support is usually tailored to the special needs of the individual countries and is awarded through the foreign subsidiaries and through local Bayer foundations.
In addition to the two German foundations, the company also maintains the Bayer USA Foundation in North America.
