Bayer to present advancements of radiology portfolio at ECR 2025

Not intended for U.S. and UK – 2025 European Congress of Radiology (ECR):

Summary

First detailed Phase III data for investigational MRI contrast agent gadoquatrane to be presented / Centargo | Cardio: extension of Bayer’s CT injection system MEDRAD™ Centargo package / New collaboration for AI Innovation Platform with Systalyze, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) spin-off / Calantic™ Digital Solutions: case studies from European clinical practices

Berlin, February 20, 2025 – Bayer will present advancements of its comprehensive radiology portfolio at the 2025 European Congress of Radiology (ECR) taking place from February 26 - March 2, 2025, in Vienna, Austria. The focus will be on progress in the development pipeline for contrast agents and injectors as well as innovations in the area of digital and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Several scientific sessions will provide new clinical results of gadoquatrane, Bayer’s investigational macrocyclic gadolinium-based contrast agent for contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), including late-breaking data from the pivotal Phase III study QUANTI CNS (Central Nervous System). These sessions follow the recent announcement of positive topline data of all pivotal Phase III studies, investigating gadoquatrane at a gadolinium dose of 0.04 mmol Gd/kg body weight compared to the macrocyclic GBCAs dosed at 0.1 mmol Gd/kg body weight.

·         QUANTI CNS Phase 3 Study Results: Efficacy and Safety of Gadoquatrane in Patients Undergoing Contrast-Enhanced MRI of the CNS (Central Nervous System) at Reduced Gadolinium Dose Compared to Standard of Care Macrocyclic GBCAs
CTiR 1 - Clinical Trials in Radiology 3, Wednesday, February 26, 8-9.30 am CET

·         Efficacy of Gadoquatrane, a Novel Low-Dose High Relaxivity Macrocyclic Gadolinium-based Contrast Agent, at 5-, 10- and 15-min Post Injection in Comparison to Gadobutrol for CNS CE-MRI

Updates from MEDRAD™ Centargo CT Injection System

In line with Bayer’s commitment to cardiac imaging, the company introduces Centargo | Cardio at ECR, Bayer's injector package for Cardiac CT – including its award-winning MEDRAD™ Centargo CT Injection System, paired with premium clinical application service and a bespoke patient preparation video. Centargo | Cardio is crafted to empower imaging professionals with the ability to create a tailored Cardiac CT imaging practice for their institutions, to support high-quality imaging results, and a better patient care.

At the Research Presentation Session on Green Innovations, where radiographers are pioneering sustainable healthcare, Bayer will present insights from a MEDRAD™ Centargo study it conducted at the Centre d'Imagerie Medicale de Radiothérapie (CIMROD center) in France – addressing the re-evaluation of CT injectors after France transitioned its contrast product supply model in March last year:

MEDRAD™ Centargo: Insights from the CIMROD Experiment on Contrast Consumption, Efficiency, Patient Care and Environmental Impact
RPS 2014 – Saturday, March 1, 2025, 2:00 pm CET

Following EU CE marking in 2020, and FDA clearance for the US at the end of 2024, the product has already been launched in 51 markets to date and can now deliver value for radiology departments across the globe which are facing a shortage of radiology technologists coupled with a rising demand for medical imaging.

Innovation in Radiology AI and Digital

Bayer in Radiology recognized the potential of AI in radiology early on and continuously extends its related offerings – with the ultimate goal to help improve patient outcomes, and to support radiologists and their teams with everyday clinical tasks.

On the occasion of ECR, Bayer introduces Systalyze, a spin-off of MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) led by Manya Ghobadi, as a new collaboration partner on Bayer’s AI Innovation Platform (AIIP) – that aims to support development teams at healthcare organizations and startups from idea to launch of AI-enabled software solutions. The collaboration focuses on leveraging Systalyze's advanced cloud compute optimization tools with the goal to enhance the efficiency, sustainability and scalability of AI-driven healthcare solutions. AIIP is Bayer’s new cloud-based software development platform that is developed with the vision to accelerate the creation, validation, and deployment of AI and machine learning (ML) applications for medical imaging. Built on Google Cloud technology, AIIP facilitates collaboration among industry, healthcare and data providers within a development environment, incorporating a robust security infrastructure and an optimized tech stack for imaging-based AI solutions. Notably, AIIP has already integrated various external data providers, along with public datasets, significantly simplifying the process of gathering high-quality medical imaging.

At ECR 2025, Bayer is also showcasing several examples from radiology suites throughout Europe that successfully adopted Calantic™ Digital Solutions in clinical routines: the Swiss university hospital Inselspital Bern, the renowned private medical imaging departments in the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region Imapôle (Imagerie Médicale Lyon Villeurbanne), the French telemedicine network TéléDiag as well as the pilot of the Galician Health Service SERGAS from Spain.

Developed by radiologists for radiologists, Calantic Digital Solutions curates various third-party app solutions into a single convenient, cloud-based marketplace – vetted with Bayer's expertise, to ensure the feasibility and reliability of the apps offered, meeting the requirements of diverse healthcare organizations and aiming to enhance clinical workflows effectively.
