About Bayer Sub-Saharan Africa
Bayer in Sub‑Saharan Africa brings Crop Science, Pharmaceuticals and Consumer Health expertise to 47 countries, accelerating growth, talent development and science‑based solutions.
Our purpose
We advance life by developing and delivering evidence‑based products, services and partnerships that help farmers increase sustainable yields, support patients with innovative therapies and enable consumers to manage everyday health. Working as one regional Country Group lets us scale local impact and co‑create with partners across the region.
Where we operate
We operate across 47 Sub‑Saharan African countries and serve a population of more than 450 million people. Bayer maintains in‑country operations in Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe, and we maintain an additional presence through appointed agencies and distributors in Uganda, Namibia, Angola, Madagascar, Eswatini and Lesotho. Our regional team of around 1,500 employees works from roughly 40 sites, connecting global expertise with local knowledge.
What we do
Our three Divisions: Crop Science, Pharmaceuticals and Consumer Health, work together to create integrated solutions. Crop Science provides seed, crop protection and digital tools that help farmers raise yields sustainably and manage crop health. Pharmaceuticals develop and deliver innovative therapies and partners with health systems to improve patient care. Consumer Health offers trusted over‑the‑counter products and education that support everyday wellbeing.
How we work
One regional Leadership Team brings together experience and skills from across Sub‑Saharan Africa so colleagues can share best practices, collaborate across borders and develop careers locally. This collaborative model supports innovation, accelerates talent development and enables us to respond more quickly to emerging regional challenges.
Sustainability & impact
We invest in projects that improve food security, expand access to healthcare and promote environmental stewardship. Through partnerships and community programs, we focus on measurable results for farmers, consumers and patients and work to build resilience against future shocks.
