Curtis Scherder

North America Australia New Zealand Commercial Operations Digital Lead

Curtis Scherder serves as the Commercial DT/IT lead for North America and Australia New Zealand. Previously, Curtis was the IT Delivery Lead for Row Crop and Vegetable Breeding where he ensured that IT solutions that were being developed at the enterprise level would meet the needs of the Breeding and Vegetables RD organization. ​

Curtis first joint the company in 2008 as a Soybean Trait Integration Breeder. Since that time, he has held multiple positions in the Global Breeding organization. He had various roles leading research teams that developed Soybean and Cotton varieties for the Southern US and spent time leading the Global Trait Integration team that developed traited Corn, Soybean, Cotton and Canola products for the world globally.  ​

Curtis grew up on a family farm in northern Missouri where he saw firsthand how the innovation that Bayer brings to farmers impacts their lives and their communities. This drove him to pursue a career in agriculture to continue that innovation for farmers around the world.   Outside of work Curtis is a proud father of two and enjoys spending time with his family, gardening and running. ​

Curtis earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Bachelor of Science in Plant Science from University of Missouri-Columbia and Masters of Science and PhD in Plant Breeding from Iowa State University.
