At Bayer, we believe that the MVPs of agriculture are farmers, who work tirelessly to provide the world with access to critical health and nutrition. To honor these dedicated individuals, Bayer proudly hosted a Farmer Appreciation Day with the St. Louis Cardinals. This special event celebrated the hard work and dedication of farmers, recognizing their commitment to agriculture and to our communities.
The invaluable contributions of farmers took center field as Bayer and the St. Louis Cardinals partnered to host Farmer Appreciation Day on August 17 at Busch Stadium. Bayer employees and their families joined baseball fans and farm families for an afternoon at the ballpark to show their gratitude for the hard work of farmers.
Who better to launch the festivities than multi-generational farmer, who was chosen to throw the honorary first pitch with his sons next to him on the mound? His family’s legacy in farming dates back about 100 years – longer than the iconic St. Louis Gateway Arch has been visible from the seats at Busch Stadium.

Family-owned farms account for 95 percent of U.S. farms, according to the USDA’s recent Census of Agriculture Typology Report. These farms range in size, with small family farms making up the majority of U.S. farms, and large-scale family farms producing a significant portion of the total agricultural output.
“We have the privilege of working with many farmers who help us grow seed for our customers,” said Adeana Hill, Technician Specialist at Bayer’s Centralia, Illinois, Production Facility. “These are families that have been growing seed for us for generations and really make us proud in the way they represent Bayer and farmers alike. They really care about the legacy of their land and the work they are doing for the world and for their communities.”

The passion and commitment of these dedicated farmers was celebrated throughout the Farmer Appreciation Day event. While the game against the New York Yankees ended in an 8-4 victory for the Yankees, the St. Louis Cardinals fans found plenty of reasons to cheer during their Sunday afternoon at the ballpark.
Fans were greeted by a tent featuring Bayer’s mission of Health for All, Hunger for None, and the first 1,000 fans received red Bayer tote bags containing popular Bayer consumer health products such as Afrin® Vapor Burst™, Alka-Seltzer® Energy Boost, Claritin® 24-Hour, and One A Day® Daily Essentials.

Before the start of the game, Bayer farmer-customers were invited to take part in an exclusive pre-game parade on the warning track at Busch Stadium, to experience the view from a unique perspective. Bayer was honored to host the National Black Growers Council (About - National Black Growers Council), as well as FFA National Officers. In addition, Cardinal alumni – pitchers Al Hrabosky and Danny Cox – visited with our customers and signed autographs.
The Farmer Appreciation Day provided a great platform to acknowledge farmers and to shine a light on their hard work and commitment to stewarding their land in ways that reduce emissions, improve soil health, and conserve resources, all while producing more than ever before.
Bayer’s investments in innovation – from digital farming to advances in crop protection and plant genetics – are investments in sustainability. That’s why we have more technology coming to North American farmers in the next seven years than the last two and a half decades combined. Our goal is to empower farmers with the tools they need to succeed, ensuring a sustainable and prosperous future for agriculture.
