Sebastian Guth
President, Bayer U.S.
President, Pharmaceuticals North America
Sebastian Guth is President of Bayer U.S. and responsible for all activities of the worldwide Bayer group in America. With its 20,000 employees and EUR 15bn in sales, Bayer is amongst the leading life science companies in the United States.
Sebastian was appointed to this role on June 30, 2023. In addition, he is a Member of Bayer’s global Pharmaceuticals Executive Committee and has the dual role of President of Pharmaceuticals North America, responsibilities he has held since 2018.
During his more than 20-year career, Sebastian’s leadership has delivered results in strategic and operational roles at the most senior levels across three continents. He has built a reputation as a forward-thinking leader with deep-seated curiosity. Sebastian is known for his strong entrepreneurial drive and focus on advancing a mission-driven, vibrant organizational culture.
Sebastian has lived and worked in Germany, Malaysia, Turkey, Japan, and the U.S., including serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Bayer's global Pharmaceuticals business, President & Chief Executive Officer of Bayer Yakuhin Ltd., Osaka, and Chief Executive Officer of Bayer Turk, Istanbul. Sebastian started his career in the pharmaceuticals industry with Schering AG, where he held senior roles in Asia and the Middle East.
Sebastian completed his studies at the WHU Otto Beisheim Graduate School of Management in Germany. He earned his doctorate in Management Sciences from Berlin University of Technology in Germany.
Outside of Bayer, Sebastian is a Board Member of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) and chairs its FDA and Biomedical Research Committee. He is a member of the Health Governing Board of BIO and a Trustee of Children’s Aid, one of America’s oldest and largest child welfare organizations.
Sebastian lives with his wife and their three children in New Jersey.
