Head of Law, Patents and Compliance, Crop Science
Dr. Lars Benecke serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and as Head of Law, Patents and Compliance for the Crop Science division of Bayer. Based in Monheim, Germany, he ensures compliance, protects the company’s assets and IP, and helps make innovation a reality for the benefits of farmers, consumers and our planet.
Previously, Benecke led Law, Patents and Compliance as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Bayer Corporation in Pittsburgh, USA, and led the Law, Patents and Compliance department of Bayer Material Science AG. He studied law at the University of Lausanne, University of Cologne, European University Institute and University of Pittsburgh. Benecke began his business career as a lawyer in Dusseldorf and as a legal consultant in the Federal Ministry of Economics in Bonn, Germany. He joined Bayer in 1997 as Senior Legal Counsel in Leverkusen.
Benecke is married with two daughters. Born in Munich, Germany, he has also lived in the United States, Italy and France.
