Professor Kate Millar is the Director of the Centre for Applied Bioethics (CAB) and Professor of Applied Bioethics and Technology Assessment, University of Nottingham, UK.
From 2016-2022, Kate was President of the European Society for Agricultural and Food Ethics (EurSafe). She is on the Editorial Board of Food Ethics (Springer) and is a member of several international advisory boards and committees. Kate holds a PhD in bioethics and her field of research is applied bioethics, with a particular interest in agri-food, animal, biotechnology and research ethics. Kate works on the development and application of ethical frameworks (e.g., Ethical Matrix), ethics of stakeholder and public engagement, inclusive innovation / ‘ethics by design’ methods and the development of ‘ethics in research’ training approaches.
She has extensive international and European research experience, acting as Chair of international research funding panels. Kate holds an honorary professorial position at the Centre for Bioethics in Eastern and Southern Africa (CEBESA), Kamuzu University of Health Sciences, Malawi.
