Trainee Program Overview

The trainee program in Communications starts in your home team, where you spend most of your time. During the course of the first year, you complete a rotation across several stations to gain broader insights. The rotation shown below is only an example — schedule, duration and assignments are adapted individually according to upcoming project requirements and your needs. During the entire trainee program, you will be supported by a personal mentor, receive both group and individual trainings, and take part in internal and external exchange formats.

  1. Communications Teams in the Divisions
You’ll get to know the communications teams of Bayer’s three divisions (Pharmaceuticals, Consumer Health, CropScience) at their offices in Berlin, Basel and Monheim and learn about their respective areas of focus.

  2. Foundational Workteam
In the Foundational Workteams (e.g. the Newsroom Team), you’ll gain first insights into how our strategic communication processes and team collaboration work.

  3. Work teams with cross‑functional strategic projects or Events
This is where you can assist in the preparation of strategically important projects or events (such as the annual stockholders’ meeting) and gain a solid understanding of interdisciplinary collaboration within the company.

  4. Local Communications in Other Countries
In the second year of the trainee program, you’ll have the opportunity to support a communications team abroad (remotely) and gain first international perspectives.

  5. Experience Abroad
In your second year, you will complete a four‑week international work experience placement, either within Bayer or externally (e.g. at an agency, editorial office or NGO).
