“You have the worst cancer there is”
After a devastating cancer diagnosis, Joachim was in shock, but he didn’t give up; instead, he fought his way back – and was even able to finally visit his brother in Thailand.
Joachim suffered from excruciating back pain that prevented him from walking properly and driving. He found it difficult to climb stairs, and even sleeping became a challenge, as he could no longer lie on his side. He vividly remembers the moment he received the life-changing news in his doctor's office: “You have the worst cancer there is. It has already spread and is destroying your bones.”
This shocking diagnosis, accompanied by a PSA level of 9,973, marked a turning point in his life. His doctor provided him with a plan that included medication, as well as a bone-strengthening injection and a hormone injection every six months.
Today, Joachim proudly reports that his PSA level has been under 0.01 for over a year, indicating that the cancer is hardly detectable. “I feel great, and I’m approaching life with positivity again. We only have one life, and I want to enjoy it,” he shares, recounting how he fulfilled a dream last year by flying to Thailand with his sister to visit their brother and his wife, who live there. For Joachim, it’s clear: “I have been given a second life.”
