Leaps is our company's strategic investment unit. In health, we pursue breakthroughs that could set new standards in medical care, moving from treating symptoms to curing or preventing diseases. In agriculture, we drive innovations that could nourish a growing population while restoring the planet.
At Leaps, we partner with visionary founders, investing in existing companies or co-creating new ones. We provide substantial early-stage funding through minority equity investments and access to our technical capabilities and expertise.
Since 2015, Leaps has invested more than $2.1 billion in 65+ startups focused on agriculture or health. One of Leaps’ health joint ventures, BlueRock Therapeutics, was acquired in 2019 as a wholly owned, independently operated subsidiary, and has since become the cornerstone of our cell therapy pipeline. In agriculture, Leaps’ portfolio company CoverCress has been majority-owned by Bayer since August 2022. They are developing a winter oilseed crop that turns idle fields into a revenue-generating, soil-health-improving solution for farmers.
In addition to our robust research and development activities, we proactively engage with external innovation ecosystems, fostering connections with diverse partners, including universities, start-ups, and other industrial companies.
