The primary responsibilities of this role, Scientist II - Genetic Discovery, are to:

• Support the design, development, implementation and execution of technical projects required for development new breeding methods that will increase genetic gain for varietal crops;
• Be responsible for project leadership for critical testing, evaluation, and incorporation of new technologies to increase genetic gain by reducing cycle time, increasing selection intensity and improving prediction accuracy;
• Identify new challenges and opportunities for new projects by building strong partnerships with internal and external collaborators;
• Keep abreast of new developments in key skill areas in quantitative genetics, plant breeding, evolutionary biology, machine learning, and artificial intelligence and to develop innovative new breeding methods from those advancements;

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary focus of the Disease Monitoring Scientist role is to champion new technologies in disease monitoring and prediction. The incumbent will collaborate closely and lead cross-functional initiatives and teams with experts in plant pathology, digital ag, data science, statistics, as well as other technology fields. These teams will work together to support our vegetable product pipeline through the development of novel vegetable products that bring value to growers, processors, retailers and consumers.

• Identifying opportunities for technical innovation in disease monitoring and leading multiple complex scientific projects;
• Developing data analysis platform to support large-scale epidemiological predictions;
